With their stripped-down tunes and rummy royal looping, incessant beats, Devo seems like a band that fits the 8-bit makeover Yono all app mold more than most. And so, the music collective 8-bit Operators has pooled 
their 
talent to create “Crack That Chip!,” a video game-ized tribute to Mothersbaugh’s mighty ensemble, and from what I’ve heard of it, it’s exceeded my expectations.
One of my favorite Devo tunes, “Freedom of Choice,” gets a cool, grindy treatment: You can pick up the whole album at Bandcamp. Nice work, 8-bit operators. (Via Nubuwo, who are currently raising money Yono all app for a winter music bundle.)
