The LA Times’ Attempt At Making The Perfect Game

Who said designing video games was hard? All you need to do is steal the best parts from each and combine them into one enormous smorgasbord of all you can eat gaming.
The Los Angeles Times went ahead and listed their most valued and defining game qualities from this year in an attempt to form some super Frankenstein-esque monster of a perfect video game. A game so perfect, they claim, that no reviewer could find a single flaw in.
While not a bad list overall, I’m not sure if I’d like to have the ‘fun’ of Lego Indian Jones or the ‘button-mashing action’ of Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. Oh, they also give Grand theft Auto IV their Game of the Year for 2008.
– The portability of God of War: Chains of Olympus
– The control setup of Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Super Sluggers
– The chess-like qualities of rummy golds Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2
– The puzzles of Professor Layton and the Curious Village
– The simplicity of Boom Blox
– The stunning cut-screens of Devil May Cry 4
– The fun of Lego Indiana Jones
– The white-knuckle racing excitement of GRID and Burnout Paradise
– The re-playability of Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution
– The chills and thrills of Dead Space
– The overall wonder of Fallout 3
– rummy mars The cuteness and creativity of Little Big Planet
– The complete package of Resistance 2
– The button-mashing action of Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe
– The originality of Air Traffic Chaos
– The intense war games of Call of Duty: World at War
rummy master– The originality of Mirror’s Edge
